TalkTalk broadband deals

TalkTalk offers a range of competitively priced broadband and phone packages, with most contracts now lasting 24 months.

TalkTalk previously promised the price of its deals wouldn't change mid-contract, but it's since changed policy. Now if you take up a deal with TalkTalk, your price will increase each April in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation as published that January, plus an additional 3.7%. However, customers can opt for 'Fixed Price Plus' - this means annual price rises won't apply, but it comes with an additional fee.

TalkTalk broadband packages often come with some inclusive calls to other TalkTalk customers, plus you can buy call plans (called 'boosts').

Packages also come with various security tools:

  • SuperSafe, for £5 per month, protects you from viruses and other online threats and includes a password manager.
  • HomeSafe, included with Fibre 35 and Fibre 65 packages, is a family-friendly web filter for blocking inappropriate content.
  • eero Secure, included with Future Fibre and Amazon eero packages, allows you to better control individual devices on a network, set up secure networks for visitors and filter inappropriate websites.

How much is TalkTalk broadband?

TalkTalk offers a wide range of broadband packages, including full fibre options for people in certain areas. It's also possible to add on its TV service.

You can view the entire range of TalkTalk broadband packages or check the latest prices for broadband-only deals below.

TalkTalk broadband speeds

TalkTalk offers two widely-available superfast fibre packages with average speeds of 38Mbps, 67Mbps.

It also offers full fibre services to customers in certain locations - these have average speeds of 77Mbps, 152Mbps, 525Mbps and 944Mbps.

Does TalkTalk put up broadband prices every year?

Yes - so if you do decide to take up a broadband contract with TalkTalk, keep in mind that it will raise the price of your deal at the beginning of April each year. It will base that increase on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation as published in January and add on an additional 3.7%. This meant an increase of 14.2% in 2023.

What is Fixed Price Plus?

This is an add-on available for certain TalkTalk contracts that allows you to fix the amount you will pay for the full length of your contract, by agreeing to pay an additional fee. It can be added to TalkTalk's superfast fibre and full fibre deals for £3 per month. As a result, you get to avoid TalkTalk's annual CPI+3.7% price increases.

Whether it's worthwhile or not will depend on the cost of your deal and the future rate of inflation, which is impossible to predict. Without Fixed Price Plus, your deal will increase by at least 3.7% every year. That means you'd need to pay £82 per month to guarantee that the fixed price promise will be worth it.

However, your actual increase is more likely to be greater than 3.7% due to the inflation element - in 2023 it was 14.2%. That means customers who pay more than £21 per month would have been better off paying for the fixed price promise this year. However, keep in mind that inflation was especially high - the increase was 9.1% in 2022 and would have been 4.3% in 2021 (though TalkTalk didn't have mid-contract price rises at that time).

Ultimately, the fixed price promise is a bit of a gamble - it could save you money, but you may end up paying more.

What is the latest TalkTalk router?

Standard broadband deals come with a TalkTalk HG633 router, which is manufactured by Huawei. Find out how it was rated in the Which? test lab by reading our TalkTalk HG633 router review.

TalkTalk's Fibre 35, Fibre 65 and Full Fibre 80 packages come with its WiFi Hub, which we reviewed in August 2018. Find out how we rated the TalkTalk WiFi Hub.

Customers who sign up to one of TalkTalk's full fibre plans will receive an Amazon eero router – this will only work on the TalkTalk network.

  • On Full Fibre 150 this is the eero 6 router, claiming up to 1,500 square feet of wi-fi coverage.
  • Full Fibre 500 includes the eero Pro 6 - claiming up to 2,000 square feet of wi-fi coverage.
  • Full Fibre 900 includes the eero Pro 6 with Tri-band Wi-fi 6 and a total home wi-fi mesh system, to double the wi-fi coverage area.

All routers are provided for free with the package.

What is TalkTalk Total Home Wi-Fi?

This is an add-on service available to TalkTalk full fibre customers and a key part of it is a mesh wi-fi extender system. If you sign up, TalkTalk will send you an Amazon eero router. If that doesn't result in what TalkTalk calls 'total home coverage' then it will provide you with additional support and, if necessary, additional eero devices to achieve it. However, there are a few restrictions on how it defines total home coverage:

  • The download speed in eligible rooms only has to be 10Mbps - despite TalkTalk full fibre services having average download speeds of 77Mbps, 152Mbps, 525Mbps and 944Mbps.
  • It will cover a maximum of six bedrooms.
  • Basements, cellars and outbuildings are excluded from total home coverage.

Total Home Wi-Fi costs an extra £6 per month and must be taken on an 18 or 24 month basis - if you have less time left on your contract, you'll have to recommit to the new duration. However, if you don't receive total home coverage in the first 45 days, you can cancel that part of your contract (though not your broadband service all together).

Find out more about the system - and what our experts make of it - in our eero Mesh WiFi System review.
