The Honda CR-V is the car credited by many as starting the 'urban 4x4' craze, although it's probably too large to be considered a crossover. Launched in 2012, the fourth generation saw the model brought bang up to date with sleeker bodywork and a more practical interior. The engine range was also updated as part of a mid-life facelift in 2015, with a new 1.6-litre diesel engine replacing the less efficient 2.2-litre unit.
