EE has become a major player in the UK home broadband scene, but in the past it has struggled to match the customer service or network reliability provided by rivals. Our latest customer survey reveals how EE broadband customers rated their EE broadband service.

Each year we survey thousands of UK broadband customers to check how they rate each big provider's speed, reliability, customer service and value for money. Read on for our review, or use the free broadband comparison service from Which? to find the best EE broadband deal for you.

EE broadband deals

EE offers a number of broadband deals, including superfast and ultrafast options. EE's deals used to automatically include a phone line, but changes to landline phone services in the UK mean that it's now changed its strategy - if you take out a broadband service, landline services won't be included unless you opt in and pay an additional fee. EE's introductory prices are usually decent, although it doesn't tend to offer as many promotional options as some rivals. EE broadband deals now have 24-month contracts which may be on the long side for some customers.

Customers on EE's mobile service get incentives for taking out a broadband deal, with data boosts up to 20GB available depending on the deal you choose. Norton 360 security software comes free for one year with every EE broadband package. EE will also give you £50 credit if you switch, cancel an existing contract and are charged a cancellation fee by your old provider.

EE broadband speeds

Customers can choose a standard broadband connection (average speed 10Mbps) or a fibre one (average speed 36Mbps or 67Mbps).

Around two thirds of households can receive EE Fibre Max, which is capable of average speeds of either 145Mbps, 300Mbps or 900Mbps, depending on the package selected.

Does EE put up broadband prices every year?

Yes - if you decide to sign up to an EE deal, keep in mind that it now increases its prices every year. Each spring they'll go up by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation as published in January, plus an additional 3.9%. This meant an increase of 14.4% in 2023.

What is the latest EE router?

EE provides two routers: the Brightbox 2 and the new Smart Hub (for fibre connections). Both are supplied free of charge. We've tested the Smart Hub and it impressed our experts - it's one of the best ISP-supplied routers currently available. Find out more in our EE Smart Hub Router review.

What is EE Smart WiFi?

A key part of this add-on service is a mesh wi-fi extender system. If you sign up, EE will send you a special 'disc' to place in your home to use to extend the signal of your Smart Hub. If you need more than one, it will give you up to three in total. It costs an extra £10 per month.

The kit is identical to a system on offer from EE's parent company, BT. Find out more about the system - and what our experts make of it - in our BT Complete Wi-Fi review.

The service also includes with 4GEE WiFi Mini - a second router that acts as a back-up router if there's a broadband outage. It works using 4G services via EE's mobile phone network and can be used when you're on the move. EE will provide 2GB of data each month as part of its Smart WiFi deal.
