We like: Camera upgrades
We don’t like: No 'Dynamic Island' notch on the display
We don't often see iPhones make our best deals list - especially on the latest range - but Apple's iPhone 14 is seeing a discount already. It's the standard model in the range, and the cheapest, but it has a number of premium perks. It's processor has been upgraded, and front-facing camera now has autofocus making it smarter at focusing in pictures.
It comes in five different colours, and with 128GB to 512GB of memory. Cinematic mode now records in 4K, but the cameras aren't as advanced as on the iPhone 14 Pro.
To find out if it lives up to expectations, check out our iPhone 14 review.
This Apple iPhone 13 is now cheaper than the iPhone 14 since it was released the year before but you'll still get fancy cameras, waterproofing, wireless charging and Face ID.

The iPhone 13 Mini, released in September 2021, is seeing a decent discount for the first time. It's worth considering if you're happy to have a smaller screen (5.4 inches). Otherwise, you get a lot of the same premium specifications as the iPhone 13. The cameras are the same with sensor-shift image stabilisation and cinematic mode, as well as sought-after photographic styles.

The iPhone 11 has the same two rear cameras as the iPhone 12 and a high-resolution 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display, but it doesn't have 5G.

The iPhone SE 2022 is worth considering if you're after a cheaper iPhone. The 2022 version is Apple's third-generation SE, and while it's currently hard to find a discount, it's still significantly cheaper than other iPhones. It comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen, a single rear camera lens that can film in 4K, and the same processor as the iPhone 13.

Before buying an iPhone, you should consider looking at the second-hand and refurbished market, as this is often where the best savings can be found. iPhones dominate this market, which means prices are competitive.
When buying second-hand, double-check the phone is still supported with security updates. If it's no longer supported, your phone is more at risk of hackers exploiting vulnerabilities in its software. Some second-hand retailers, such as Music Magpie, will warn you if a phone no longer has security support in the specs, but many won't. So use the Which? phone support calculator to find out how long you can expect to get support.
Second-hand phones are sold with a grade according to its condition. Our research shows a grade B (or equivalent 'good') will generally get you the best deal, balancing price with the quality of features.

With the recent release of the iPhone 14, more and more iPhone 12s are appearing on the second-hand market. You should find them for £300-575, depending on the condition.
The cheapest one in grade B condition we found is at iOutlet for £329.99. Find out the full story in our Apple iPhone 12 review.
Also consider these other iPhone models that can now be found cheaper at multiple second-hand retailers:
It's notoriously tricky to find a discount on an iPhone – and when you do, it's usually smaller than you get on Android devices.
However, if you look in the right place at the right time, you can get some money off. Retailers such as Amazon and Argos occasionally bring their prices down, although make sure it's a new handset, not a refurbished one.
New iPhones usually launch in September, so the end of the year is a good time to look for previous models, particularly as the Black Friday and Christmas sales roll around. Sometimes the best deals will be on an iPhone that's two years old, not one.
Apple offers a trade-in scheme, so you can knock down the price of a new handset slightly if you're upgrading from an older iPhone.
